With a flexible and easy writing, the author offers us the vision of the Basque Country in its historical flux, from the Roman age to nowadays. This narrative ( novel) is based on a long time documentation, in which the historical events are combined with the daily ones and the dates with the feelings. This way, we will find basketmakers next to kings, together with soldiers, peasants and politicians, who are mixed with manufacturing workers. In the end, we discover a country whose main feat with the passing of the centuries has not been neither its cohesion nor its purity or its political or military victories but something as simple and essential as its survival instinct; its perseverance to subsist and go on sailing the historical seas.
