Haso and Fate are husband and wife and have got two children. Haso is a shepherd, and one day, in the mountains, he shares bread and company with Kurdish rebels who escape from Turkish soldiers. The country guards do not leave out this gesture and he is arrested. The Aga who Haso works for, defends him and tries to explain them that the shepherd´s attitude towards the rebels was the fruit of his hospitality and not the one of subversion. However, he cannot avoid Haso being heartlessly tortured. Haso comes back home, but short after, he goes to the mountains to join his country rebels. From that moment onwards, it is Fate who focuses the soldiers´ attention. Before the situation look, Haso´s father decides to send his daughter-in-law and his grandchildren to Germany, where they will stay under the care of some friends. After saying goodbye to their people, mountains and meadows, Fate and her children go to an unknown country, a different one as to their costumes, feelings and language, to a diffuse place called Occident.
