Their voices are the ones from the earth. Their claim, forged in more than five hundred years of suffering and delay. That is the condiment which gave light, one after the other, to those different popular revolts in Ecuador, until 21st January, 2000, the rainbow colours ( the same as those which the Indoamerican rebelliousness flag shows ) lit up the Quito sky announcing the great liberation row. All together, natives, half- castes, and whites showed in those stages that popular power is formed slowly but inexorably from beneath. And if final success was not achieved, the foundations were laid to go on walking steadily. This heroic deed and its consequences are discussed in this book by some of those who were and are protagonists of one of the stages which will go down in the Latinoamerican popular revolts history.
