This book, which has been revised and brought up to date by recent researches, has never been published in the south of the Pyrinees till now. It was firstly published in secrecy more than thirty years ago and it became the reference point for later works. It also contains those pages which were censored in its original edition by the Communist Party leadership. It is narrated with great emotionality and gathers the testimony of those guerrilla fighters, called maquis in the popular language and antifrancoist fighters in the political one , who fought against fascism from the mountains, hidden among the streams mist, the caves darkness or the wood trees. This is his recollection, the one which feeds our most recent history, the breath of a fight as epic as unknown.
