El Pais. Culture as a business. Few newspapers have boasted themselves as much as El Pais newspaper of its progressive spirit. However, from its pages, a cultural industry; typical of the wildest neoliberalism has been promoted without any bashfulness at all and this makes the book become a simple consumer product. Looking for a wider and more and more homogenized market all the time and by means of the excessive use of marketing, the management system created around this newspaper has made its contributors become vedettes. It has also made the novel look back to times before Galdos´age and has submitted culture and; especially literature in the Spanish State to an unstoppable literature involution process.
