Fleeing the civil war that shook the young Republic of Ireland which has recently achieved independence, a former Irish rebel, hero of the book, get lost on an island far from the sea lanes, where he hopes to be a meteorologist. In a small field about a square mile, a lighthouse, a tiny house, a man who seems to be the previous meteorologist and his memories are the only company he has... or at least that is what he believes. The high quality of this novel which has been compared to works by the size of Stevenson, Lovecraft or Conrad, is perhaps the ability to make the reader think even accidentally. Piñol's literature is the one full of ideas and strong figures. Captive in the story line, the reader can not escape the truth, the fear that is so far and at the same time so near.
