Emma´s book. Being a woman and black is not anything exotic but all the opposite in some countries, it is a stigma which must be carried with a downcast look and drooping ears. However, Emma, the main character in this novel has not let anyone destroy her personality, although she is now kept in a psychiatric hospital far the country in which she was born. Obstinate in speaking only in her language, the hospital employs an interpreter, Flore. Emma will not only tell Flore her story, but she will also tell the story of all the women in the Grand-Lagon island; included that one of her confidante. All Emma´s tales are full of anger, dreams and legend; they catch up and fascinate Flore, transmitting her the legacy of her own memory.
