The struggle for the independence of Euskal Herria has always been helped by the solidarity with similar processes that were lived and live (well) away from here. Those who have most striven for the emancipation of our country have been the ones who have been most involved in the liberation of others. This solidarity has uncovered one of the most beautiful dimensions of human being. Those who practice it share the suffering of other people and live with them the tension generated by the search for solutions. Internationalism widens boundaries without ignoring identities; it makes us citizens of the world from our own national reaffirmation. This book offers a journey (from the origins of Basque nationalism to these days) by different peoples and struggles (Euskal Herria, Ireland, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Cuba, Palestine, El Salvador, Sahara and others) where Basques have given the best of their lives or even life itself. This experience has made the poet’s description real: solidarity is the tenderness of the peoples.
