This novel deals with the years long confrontation between a torturer and his victim's father. The story begins in 2002 when Jon Ander, along with other friends, was arrested, tortured and jailed for charges which later will be proved as false. Jon Ander's father, due to the impassivity of the judges and politicians, decides insistently to air his son's case in the press. The Basque policemen Manuel Salvidela will husk memories as he reads the newspapers: someone knows about his profession, about his cruelty, someone who has no fear of his impunity. And for worse, that someone shows the superior officers up in front of the courts and public opinion, the untouchables bosses, the ultimate responsibility. We all know that these things happen in banana republics. How will something like that happen between Basques and Democrats?
