In this novel, the third in the Buru series, we discover the maturity of the protagonist, Minke, as well as that of his country, which is ready to shake off colonialism and find its´ own destiny. Minke continues to be a young man, in love with women, life, and also his people which doesn´t hesitate to criticize those aspects which aren´t shared.
