Caramablú Gold. This is one of Urzidil´s most unknown plays; a symbolist writer who belongs to the Prague Circle. The action takes place in a convulsed age in 1936, in a village in the Basque Country. Some strange characters, with a very particular point of view about life penetrate us deeply in mossy and magical grounds.Caramablú is the Basque Country and; the Basque language is its gold; its most appreciated property. It can be appreciated in the novel a thoughtful observation of the Basque customs and a deep affinity of the writer towards the universe that he describes; perhaps because this place reminded him of his native Bohemia; a crossroad and setting of lots of invasions and human transhumance, place in which the cultural identity remains in continuous observation.
