In the autumn of 2006 the works of what it is called the Basque Y began on an almost secret way and without the institutional photos and front-page pictures; a project which is feasible thanks to the financial agreement between the governments of Madrid and Gasteiz. Since then, we have witnessed many protests and demonstrations against the High-Speed Train, but the misinformation in a large part of Basque society is worrying, taking into account that the HST represents a large and public financial outlay which does not meet the social and environmental minimum requirements to be acceptable. Work has already begun, but the worst damage is still to come. Therefore, in this collective work we tried to explain our arguments for request the reconsideration and deferral of this destructive project, and thereby, a greener and more sustainable Euskal Herria would be achieved.
