Amaiur´s heroic deed, which is for everybody represented today in the stone monument in tribute to the ones who defended the independence in the reign of Navarra, has been rescued from forgetfulness by different and successive generations of historians. The events which took place between 1512 and 1522 and; which constituted the conquest of Navarra by the Castilian troops sent by Fernando the Catholic, made the little enclave of Baztan become an evocative sanctuary of the resistance in Navarra. As a result of the 1920s public discussion about the interpretation of the historical events previously stated, we have this first edition of Amayur, which was deeply prefaced by Arturo Campión. This first book, which is a masterful historiographic work, already knew how to recuperate and summarize all what had been published until that moment. This second edition wanted to add new analysis about the importance of the text, respecting the original one apart from adding new graphic documents. Among those documents, we can find the rebuilding of Amaiur castle as well as an extensive and recommended biography.
