Pío Baroja

The famous Basque novelist was born in Donosti, in 1872 and died in Madrid, in 1956 exactly half a century ago. His simple, original and accurate prose which was full of sarcasm and sincerity left a peculiar style; the “Barojian” one to his contemporaries and successors. Having written a lot of works, he developed different genres with skill: narrative, plays, essays…His work and charismatic personality made him become an object of criticism, veneration and study.
These are only some of his works: Shanti Andia´s worries, Late loves, The adventurous Zalacain, The world is like this, The nights of good retirement, César or nothing, The science tree… and the works reprinted by Txalaparta to commemorate his anniversary, Jaun of Alzate´s legend and Basque Country.
